Could be many reasons for this.
Whatever the reasons might be, I think it's wise that opensrs is moving into
cc tld's, and from what i understand, will attempt to offer some/all of the
new extensions if possible.
It's clear to me that the .com namespace for many desired domains is full.
With .TV ramping up, as well as many others, i believe it is very likely
that web site builders and viewers will become more and more receptive to
working with domains outside of the .com space.
Just as each person who uses email, has a unique email address, i will guess
that the 300 million (?) people online (and growing), will want their own
domain name for their personal sites, and a unique email address coupled
with that domain.
Diversity is good.
