actually, i am pretty sure that Kirk was right here..every time you login
to manage the domain the "last updated date" will change.....though I
am not all too sure if this is the case if you login to manage a domain in
the same profile as the domain in question. ( i will check and confirm for
curiousity's sake :)

besides, the root server updates happen independantly of all the WHOIS
db's for all the registrars.
