They are NOT going to release the name. At least at anytime in the near
future.
I now see the light. This is really the reason why Verisign Registry is
going to stop dropping names. They are trying to help out their poor
little registrar division that is losing so many "customers". The
practice you describe appears to be very common now. People are so fed up
with netsol that they are willing to risk losing their domain instead of
paying netsol one more cent.
Here's how it works:
1) Domain registrant submits transfer requests a few weeks before
expiration.
2) Netsol delays the transfer with their little "you didn't reply in
time" message game.
3) Domain expires and goes on hold
4) Verisign Registry decides to stop dropping deleted names citing abuse
by SPECIFIC REGISTRARs in attempting to snag "valuable" domains. This is
just a cover up to help out their whining co-workers.
