Has anyone else received a note like this:
=================
Greetings,
We are contacting you because CIRA has notified us of problems
with some .ca registrations done through your OpenSRS Reseller
profile. They
have advised us that a number of domain name records contain
inconsistent
information, and that the information needs to be corrected
within 7 days.
The domain(s) in question is/are:
...
Note: If the specific problem is not detailed for each name
above, we do NOT have any more information. Your best course of
action is to
review the registration rules below and see which applies to the
WHOIS for
the name in question.)
...
<Much long-winded hoo-hah re: registration rules deleted>
=================
Am I to understand that CIRA is saying to my customer and I that
they don't like <something> about the registration info, but
that they won't tell us what exactly they don't like? And that
the rules for registration are now different than when the
registrations were originally approved? And that they will
deactivate the domains if we are not able to magically determine
the secret incantations and sacred dances they require to be
performed within 7 days? Are they nuts?
First they make it exceedingly difficult to obtain a .ca name,
now they're making it hard for those who have successfully
registered
to keep one. This is completely crazy. What a bunch of
incompetent
boobs running CIRA! They make NSI look good.
OK, here's a real question. The Registrant "Legal Type" may need
to
be changed on a couple .ca domains to satisfy these new rules. I
know
how to change that via the management interface, but how do I
verify
that CIRA has received that change? Neither their whois nor
OpenSRS
whois show this info.
