Handles are there own complex issue. We have spent quite a bit of time on
this recently - very big challenge. Every solution we have come up with to
date has at least one compromise we don't like, but it may be the case that
given the difference between registries, thick and thin models, and
synchronous and asychronous transactions, dictates that there is no perfect
solution.
Current thinking has us insulating out profile system against external
systems, and managing everything here. This provides the best automation
and registrant control. The compromises include:
- not taking full advantage of various registry handle systems' functionality
- more complex "transfer away" issues (transfer lots of names away form OSRS)
However, we should be able to greatly improve name admin and cross registry
changes.
