True reseller program? Isn't that just a matter of semantics? You set your own prices, and their pricing to you is 25 cents below their retail pricing. If you want to sell domains for the same dirt cheap prices as they do, then you only make 25 cents per year. Otherwise, your margins should be higher than with OpenSRS, since the cost per domain year is lower. Out of pure dumb curiosity I made an enquiry today and got the following response from GoDaddy:
> Note: You're able to set your own pricing structure for whatever you believe > the market will bear for your customers. So, let's say you charge $20.00 > for a 1/yr .com registration. Your buy rate is $8.70 for a 1/yr .com > registration. Go Daddy Software will take 3.41% of $20.00 (credit card > processing fee)= $0.68. So, it's $20.00 - $8.70 (your buy rate) = $11.30 - > $0.68 (credit card processing fee) = $10.62 commission will be paid to you. > > Here's a few Reseller URL's for review --> www.just5buckshosting.com & > www.herwebspace.com > > Here's an example of a delivered private label registration link --> > http://www.secureserver.net/default.asp?prog_id=DomainNameStore > > During the DNS portion of the registration process the customer will be > offered the following options: 1. So they charge YOU for their credit card processing (because they can, I guess). Then, since all forms reside on their web site, they offer the registrant free domain parking at GoDaddy, which no doubt captures a few of your customers (if you're a web host) when they later need a web site. No thanks. Definitely not for us, but the cheap pricing and convenience of the setup would be attractive to some resellers. What this thread really has me wondering, is why doesn't OpenSRS offer a similar program where "resellers" just have a private-label area on an OpenSRS web server? Sure would save us a lot of trouble fiddlef***ing around with the constant barrage of OpenSRS software being released. Charge those resellers a premium, say $1 or $2 per domain-year, for use of this service.
