For your reference, you can report this stuff more quickly here: http://www.opensrs.org/.emerg/ As far as our dependancies on their WHOIS, we will look at this. Off the top of my head, I am pretty sure that: - thick registries force greater reliance on registry sanity - a local copy would introduce all sorts of potential data issues that are not desired - CIRA's registry (homegrown) does not easily allow record checking other than through WHOIS - we are working on limiting our registry dependancies (and what our reaction is - we want to pend orders etc... when we can) as much as possible in one of our active development projects - I will send this along to that team.
