I am very sure the openSRS tests had more intention of serving us the resellers and our clients than this, it is indeed an example of how verisign tries to get her clutches back on the complete market, doing this for all registrars alike (the offer) It is also long since proven that THE registrar not deleting domains is verisign, keeping some domains blocked for no apparent reason for over 2 years, but in order to "clip" the competition that grows steeper by the day and before these registrars realize the value of their registered and nearing deletion domains, they come up with this ....
the domains our clients register, are theirs (the clients) untill they make it clear they are not renewed, at that moment we have as much right to these domains as verisign at least if not more, considering the fact it was our client. I suggest tucows refuses to take part and lists the domains deleting in (f.i.) 30 days, with owner email and gives us a chance to to "buy" those domains from the departing owner. I am sure we will come out at a better rate then verisign, and will not need to worry about prime names being taken by the "big shots" who can afford to hog bandwidth in order to push "the little guys" back so they can have the first come first served place for $ 40. I am sure most of us are left with the less desirable if with any, and i for one can not see why i cannot offer my clients $ 10 for a domain that is about to delete and re-sell it for $ 15 as we are doing with new ones. no doubt this will again infuriate a holy war against the "preferred" business model, however i remain in favor of it, even if it is to prevent verisign from taking over (again) abel On Wednesday 02 January 2002 10:10 pm, George Kirikos wrote: > Verisign has made a new "proposal" over expiring domain names.
