One should not assume this is a done deal. Verisign can be fought with regard to issues like this at the ICANN level, but only if the Registrars don't cave in, like they did over the Registry/Registrar split issue on the Verisign Contract negotiations. The registrars assenting to the new contracts, and not fighting against Verisign's extortionary approach to getting its demands, was the single most important factor in those contracts not getting stopped. I was personally disgusted by the Registrars' Constituency not fighting to force Verisign to comply rather than giving Verisign carte blanch like they did. It really made me wonder what kind of back room deals Verisign was making with the Registrars to get them to all give in on it so easily. Call me suspicious, but their position was way too favorable to Verisign, and made way too easily, for me to believe it was based on an honest evaluation that they were better off with the agreement rather than fighting to force Verisign to comply with the DoC and ICANN's previously negotiated contract with Verisign. -- Best regards, William X Walsh <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> --
