William that is SO easy:

- announce the domains to-be-dropped
- let people sign up for it for a week or so
- then randomly draw one
- simple, cheap and fair

Please tell me what's unfair about this? Tell me what's unfair about 
randomness? It's the exact same situation as with the info and biz 
starts. Just that they had those stupid Sunrise periods.
Because all those dropping names are known there *is* no FCFS, FCFS 
implicits that someone needs to come up with the name first, it's not 
just that he's the first to register it. With a dropping name it's not 
a matter of thinking up the name but just who's a better "hunter" 
(including skills, technology and money). (Don't repeat your 
"uncertainty" argument, there's also some uncertainty in hunting ...)
