No. Speculation doesn't amend fair prices. Because you can never be sure that there won't be someone speculating on THAT particular name, there is NO choice, you have to go the hard way to increase your odds. Not to mention that some registrars have enough money to just try to catch ANY dropping domain and try to sell it before the money-back period is over.
