John Klensin is with AT&T

AT&T has lobbied extensively for no new TLDs or a small number.

It is in Verisign's best interest not to have more TLDs.

It appears that people involved with ICANN are being intentionally
distracted away from the focal point of adding more TLDs.

There should now be thousands of TLDs in the legacy root name servers
controlled by the U.S. Government. People responsible for preventing
that from happening will now have to answer to the U.S. Senate and House.
Fortunately, we still live in a democratic society in the U.S. and not the I* society.
