This may seem to be an off of the topic question, however, I feel that this may be the right place to ask about it.
Once a person registers a domain name, does this information stay private or does this information become available to any and everyone that wants it. Essentially, what I'm talking about is two to five days after you register a domain name, you already start receiving e-mail solicitations about different products and or services. My first question: Is this allowed? What's Tucows policy on this sort of thing. Second question: How do people get access to this sort of list? Is this public property available from ICANN or do people simply sell their registry list to the highest bidder? Third: If this is public information, shouldn't the be a way to choose to opt-out when you register your domain name, instead of having to manually unsubscribe from each spammer that sends you information? If anyone could give me some more insight into this, I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks, C_Edmunds
