For the past month the domain had been resolving to the correct site. All of the OpenSRS tools were showing what should have been the correct information on June 2, however the roots contained domaindirect ns as authoritive. What really made this frustrating is that it is nearly impossible to get ahold of someone in the know at Tucows on a weekend. Which prompted the posting to the mailing list.
