Sorry Tucows,
again I would like to ask why you are using this policy:
Why isn't is possible to check weave all resellers' files into the database,
removing any duplicates (within resellers) f.ex. the 22nd and sending all resellers a notice
how much they have to put additionally to their account?
(just make a test run, no names requires, just f.ex. "about 200 names")
It is so difficult to make an estimation how much domains will be unique.
Especially for non-US reseller, 1000 domains accepted or 100 makes a big
difference. Even if you will refund not used prepayments after 26th, we
might loose quite some money because exchange rates are not very stable.
Or was it your intention to keep queues (of each reseller) small?
Matthias
"On June 21, 2002 we will be sending a list to resellers identifying which names have made their "potential" list,
and which duplicates from their list have been removed. These lists will include domain name, registrant name,
and admin email address. We will be showing how much funds will be required in your account to cover all
"potential" applications.
On June 26, 2002, starting at 1700 EDT (2100 GMT), we will weave all resellers' files into our database,
removing any duplicates, and processing them randomly to the registry. As the list is processed we will check
for appropriate funds in your account. For unique names within the list, if you have sufficient funds, we will place
money on hold and submit your selected name to the registry. If you lack sufficient funds, that submission will
not be sent to the registry. Duplicates across resellers will be selected randomly (sufficient funds required).
Once all names are submitted we will be notifying resellers with an additional email. This will include the list of
names that were successfully submitted to the registry (with funds placed on hold), and a list of names that
were not submitted on your behalf (either due to lack of funds, or a name already submitted on behalf of another
reseller).
It is important to note that you MUST have sufficient funds in your account to cover all the applications you
expect to be submitted on your behalf to the registry. If you expect to get 50% of your submissions, you should
have at least 50% of the required funds in your account by 1700 EDT (2100 GMT) June 26, 2002.
