I for one would not charge for this service.

The whois DB should have been like this from the start, individuals needing the info (such as resellers querying for their own customers whois data) have a valid need to see the extended output (or a better interface such as the RWI used). The rest of the people do not.

On this note DROC is sending paper renewal notices again... who pays for my time explaining to each customer that gets one that they are NOT a government agency, and merely someone trying to solicit business.

Mind you, hiding the data from the whois doesn't stop those who would purchase said data from the registry...
