 I don't have a "privacy view" to inject here which is the basis of
 this thread I suppose.  But the comment above - "If they're not a
 public entity, they don't need a brand" has nothing to do with
 whether or not they need a domain name.  If I owned 'tom.com' I could
 give out [EMAIL PROTECTED] to all of my contacts as an email address.  Now
 if I change ISPs I don't have to worry about updating all of my
 friends (okay, both of my friends) and family, etc., with my
 [EMAIL PROTECTED]

 A domain name should be had by all IMO because it provides portability at
 the very least, to say nothing of the cool factor and future uses:
 [EMAIL PROTECTED]:4322 ends up as a permanent and portable phone contact?
