Below is a verbatim copy/paste that our clients have been getting when they
unknowingly pay the "invoice" that DROA sends them. This makes me really angry
because many of these people we explained to about the same ploy from the DROC
(Domain Registry of Canada) but now apparently they are using the America name
when poaching Canadian clients as well.

Please notice the wording they use. The sentence above the link says you have
to click on it to verify your email is active. THEN after the link it tells you
that you have to do it to transfer it. Many people deal with items as they read
through a list and therefore would have clicked on the link (to verify their
email) BEFORE they realize from the following line that this will facilitate a
transfer.

I have had a couple of clients who have said that they actually sent company
cheques to these bottom feeders and therefore did not want to go through the
hassle and expense of correcting it when the bank charges are more than the
domain would cost.

By the way you can see that they are actually in Canada from the phone number
listed (ok not defintive proof but still I've also heard from others this is the
case) and I thought the federal government and CIRA had slapped them around in
some way for this sort of practice.

I did the transfer for this one client who wanted to let it go through because
of the hassle involved and a single click will in fact facilitate the transfer.
Nothing remotely close to the much more upfront and lucid transfers that OpenSRS
use which includes the ability to back out if you're unclear or decide not to
proceed.

Read and see what you think.
