The idea to start with fewer boards is very good. In the future, if needed you can create new categories and forums and move there specific messages.
One could also think that a special category makes it more attractive to post / search on that topic. E.g. configuration and api/macro's might be interesting ones. So that would be more likely to gather advanced users too.
