I think this is a good idea, but there might be a few more technical hurdles
than are obvious. I know that trying to access YouTube videos through an
American proxy doesn't always (or maybe ever) work: I get told they're
blocked in Germany, even when in the same session I can go to Hulu or
NBC.com or whatever. I bet Google has a LOT of ways of knowing where you
are, and the IP address is just one of them.

(On the other hand, it's feasible that they follow a sort of "one-drop" test
of blocked content. If any part of your profile looks like it's in Germany,
they'll block you.)

Maybe it's worthwhile to do some field testing about what gets through
YouTube's region blocking and what doesn't, a la the earlier testing by
Scott Smitelli about their content ID system?
