I thought the firebug/jQuery combination was pretty effective here:

http://ejohn.org/blog/hacking-digg-with-firebug-and-jquery/

And it could be taken a lot further, especially if you have a technical
audience.

I've been using jQuery to create page upgrades... places on the page
where existing content structures are given new dynamic behaviours using
jquery.

I've found that you can do some amazing stuff with less than six lines
of jquery code... And I think that that kind of thing could make a realy
impressive demo.

Another interesting intersection is what you can do with greasemonkey,
jQuery and microformats. Part of what makes microformats fertile ground
is that there's the potential to build greasemonkey functionality
against a format that sees widespread adoption.

microformats in general

greasemonkey script for a specific microformat
