Hi,

today I gave talk on a reproducibile workflow using notebooks at EuroScipy 
2018. After the talk somebody pointed me to this intersting thread. 

To answer some of the questions, yes notebooks can be run like scripts, 
parametrized and organized in a pipeline that can be executed automatically. 
Complexity should go to libraries but notebooks represent excellent records of 
execution and intermediate results. This facilitates presentation, but also 
also debugging. You can jump in a notebook and run it interactivily and, once 
fixed, you can keep executing it as a part of the pipeline.
