It's very 'pre merge', but the old three-letter acronym 'SWC' was
fairly unique, fairly informative, and fairly short. Would it be out

One other possibility would be to simply replace 'discuss' with 'carpentry'?
Thanks to everyone who has commented so far. Apparently, this issue
has been raised before but didn't engender any replies back then.
1) Clearly, I wasn't thinking about smaller devices when suggesting
[Capentries discuss]
however, I'd suggest that the claim that
Many mailers are smart enough to sort out mails to different folders
based on the destination
whilst true, ignores readers who don't have such capability and/or are
unable to set it up, in the same way that I ignored smaller devices.
The need here, as I see it, is to add some "Carpentries" context
into the Subject lines, because "discuss: is simply too generic.
2) SWC, as I go back that far, was my original thought, however, I'm
aware of the move away, or as Bennet puts it, 'merge' fron SWC,
DC and LC (?) into "The Carpentries" and I doubt those who would
have to approve a change would want to lose that.
I could see a case for having prefixes that contained SWC, DC and LC
if there was a need for any domain-specific lists that would benefit
from being separated out but that's not the point of this thread.
3) Similarly, replacing 'discuss' with 'carpentry' loses the context
of there being a "discussion" list compared to say, an "announce",
"admin" or other commonly used mailing-list "de-facto standard"
list prefixes.
4) Henry Neeman's [carpsdisc] is, for me, getting there, however,
lacks a separator between the organisation and its specific list,
which had me thinking
[Carps disc]
