Well said. I'd just add that Illumos is an open source project. This means that there's no management to dictate what people work on, rather they volunteer their time. As a result, I think that we should be happy that someone finds paying down technical debt satisfying enough to work on it and we should *not* drive them away because "janitorial work isn't sexy" or "doesn't provide value". (Those are opinions anyway, not technical reasons to do/not do something.)
