Is what comprises "Illumos". To be fair, "Illumos" also contains OS/Net man
pages now too (where it didn't inside Sun).

Yes, this is similiar to the different distro in linux. The all share a core kernel but build different things on top of that..

Illumos on it's own is just source code. It can be built into a distro.

Is this enough to clear some of the confusion? Or am I adding to it. And if
I got anything wrong here, please chime in.

If my tripplecheck above is correct, then it's crystal clear. If not, then yes, you
