This is an interesting article but the "benchmarks" are for uber-expensive database systems where the underlying basis for the performance might not be the CPUs at all.
For reference, it is possible to purchase a worthy four socket Opteron 6200 system for 100X less than the systems mentioned in that article.
If you are planning to spend almost $900K for a system, then perhaps Opteron and even Xeon might not be the best choice.
