Hi, First, my only experience with Oracle is the sabotage of OpenOffice, and that's enough for me to judge Oracle. I've heard of Solaris in a wide variety of places, and only now did I find out about OpenSolaris -- and its already too late because Oracle cut across that now. Good job on keeping a good thing going!
I wish I had the skills to contribute to projects like this which are fighting for a good cause, to keep open source software available and current. But I would be willing to install a distribution of illumos and use it frequently as a desktop OS, and can provide bug reports as I come across them. As a Desktop user, it seems my first choice ought to be OpenIndiana, which is intended as a desktop. If I find bugs there, would I report them to that project, or to the illumos project? Also, my impression from reading over the project briefly, since I support open source software, is that it should be a high priority to replace the blobs that come from Solaris. -Adam ------------------------------------------- illumos-discuss Archives: https://www.listbox.com/member/archive/182180/=now RSS Feed: https://www.listbox.com/member/archive/rss/182180/21175430-2e6923be Modify Your Subscription: https://www.listbox.com/member/?member_id=21175430&id_secret=21175430-6a77cda4 Powered by Listbox: http://www.listbox.com
