Just a brief comment about "agile vs waterfall."

I don't think that the distinction is always as clear as one might
think. 

Often projects have a waterfall structure within which you can have
agile moments.

For example, an (oversimplified) product development framework might
look like a waterfall structure:

1. business case
2. design
3. build
4. release

but the design phase might be highly agile.

In addition, while the structure above shows a single design phase,
there are likely to be design elements in all the phases.
