Just baiting us, aren't you? Trebuchet is actually a beautiful font, IMHO,
tragically ruined by the lowercase g and the ampersand (&), both of which
are ugly, attention-grabbing glyphs. It's a deal-breaker for
me<http://www.kpao.org/2008/03/trebuchet-a-font-ruined-by-two.html>
.

And while the Microsoft C fonts are indeed nice, I highly doubt "the right
folks" will license them for free to the world. Times are quite different
than they were 13 years ago at the start of the "Internet Tidal
Wave<http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=Internet%20Tidal%20Wave%20memo>".
But what I don't understand is why others haven't picked up the slack here.
There are some really nice free fonts out there (many of which have been
featured on Smashing Magazine<http://www.smashingmagazine.com/category/fonts/>)
that could easily be included in Firefox installs—like these for
example<http://www.kpao.org/2007/12/best-free-fonts.html>
.

Or how about Adobe? They have amazing reach with both Flash and Reader, and
they also have an amazing library of typefaces <http://www.adobe.com/type/>.
How about Adobe picking up some slack here and giving a bit back to the
Internet community that made it the powerhouse it is today?

Or Google? They licensed the Droid fonts
<http://www.ascendercorp.com/pr/pr2007_11_12.html>for their Android phone
platform. How about extending use of these fonts to computers as well?

Ah well. I'm still going to use SIFR <http://novemberborn.net/sifr3> for my
designs.
