I agree that "Grab the badge" is an insufficient call to action. However, replacing that with a different phrase with the same general idea will leave you no better off.
Instead, since the site is already issue-centric, tell the potential badge-grabber what they will accomplish by getting the badge. Users don't go to a "Save the Whales" website looking for a badge for their site, they go because they want to help save the whales. Something like "Have a website? Help us raise whale awareness!" will attract people who aren't familiar with the idea of "badges" and make it clear that by getting the badge they will be doing something for the cause they support. People go to campaign sites to find out more about the cause or to try to contribute (if they have already been won over). Telling them to "get" something implies that they will gain - go to the grocery store to get food, to Starbuck's to grab a coffee, work in order to get paid - but they have come intent on giving. So offer them a way to give. Tell them what they have to power to accomplish, and make sure they know that whatever they do will be valuable to and valued by the cause. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
