It's quite simple: YouTube, the product, has been one of the most spectacularly successful and consumer-appreciated products in the history of the web. YouTube, the company, has been a tremendous success in getting itself sold to Google for $1.65 billion. YouTube founders and investors have been very happy. I haven't heard the acquirer, Google, say they are unhappy with their purchase. YouTube hasn't made any profits.
