I love the post too! I think that it holds a lot of merit. In response to your comments, Ambrose, I would agree with you IF everything was in an ideal workplace and all developers were team players rather than looking out for their own self-interests. Good design usually means more work for them, and thus they usually fight those sort of things. That is why I would have to agree with Jonathon about needing to be a bit...forceful.
I am currently in a situation where I am designing an application and presenting those designs and interactions to the "project managers" who are also developers on the same project. A great deal of the interactions that are fairly common amongst good IxD have been slashed because "it's too hard". If I were in a position to tell them what we are doing rather than ask, they might fight a little, but then take the documents and get to work. Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying be condescending or belittling to the developers, and I'm all for a team, but the reality is, in the trenches of design in MOST companies, it's a little more tricky. - Dustin Savery . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
