I've been working with INFRAGARD (since before it was INFRAGARD), and
a member of HTCIA for about 10 years.

INFRAGARD is very focused on critical infrastructure, and is a program
managed by the FBI. Membership requires a national agency check, but
does not require (or grant) a security clearance. If you're in a CI
industry, they've probably already reached out to someone at your
organization. Great networking opportunity, there is a specific
"Cyber" sector defined.

HTCIA (High Tech Crime Investigation Association) is about 80% law
enforcement and 20% industry. Local chapters all over the world.
Local chapters have (usually) monthly meetings, and there is a mailing
list. Local meetings often have a practical presentation, often
focused on forensics or other investigative topics. Note that those
who are focused on criminal defense (defense attorneys, expert
witnesses who take primarily defense work) are currently excluded from
membership.

HTCIA (in fact the San Diego chapter at least once) has published
guidelines for first responders on securing and seizing computing
equipment at a crime scene. I've got the PDF around here somewhere,
it could probably be updated and reprinted, might be a great chance
for LOPSA and HTCIA to partner and "co-brand".

These are *great* networking opportunities; it always helps to have a
friend in law enforcement when Bad Things Happen who will understand
the problem, and be able to help you get the assistance that you need
(and not want to seize every computer in sight, like the olden days!).

Datacenter walk throughs and tours are nice, but make sure you follow
your organization's policies.

This is a little dated, and the LE climate has changed, but never
forget that you and LE have different priorities and plan accordingly.
I've been asked by the local FBI office to update this, maybe
someday...
