And if Amazon isn't happy with that (and admittedly they won't be probably), 
then:

        (a) they will renegotiate with authors to provide them with less money, 
or
        (b) they will attempt to negotiate some sort of special-consideration 
with Apple based on the fact that they're only acting as a content-broker, and 
have rights-holders themselves to dole money out to as well, or
        (c) they will abandon the iOS platform as it will be netting them $0.00 
and costing them to maintain it

That's their right to do so. I'm still not seeing anything hullaballoo worthy 
here.
