I too work for a financial services company in NYC and have tried to sell this to management multiple times, but security is always the showstopper.
What kind of groups are you thinking of? I'm got my BS at Columbia and could probably get you a contact there which would get you a post on the jobs board at the very least. They have a Systems track which led me to my current job. NYU would probably also have something similar.
