- Perhaps the sysadmin community is somehow scaring them off
- Perhaps they're not being exposed to the career option as well as other
population demographics are[1]
- Perhaps they're exposed to the option, but not getting offered the entry
level positions that allow them to climb the ladder to sysadmindom
- Perhaps they're simply not getting the right educational background that the
IT job-market demands

There's certainly other possibilities. As with all of these sorts of
"population-demographic comparisons", it's possible that they simply aren't
interested. That maybe a smaller percentage of ${minority_vector} candidates
have any interest at all, even exposed to the option and opportunity, and maybe
that explains the decreased career adoption rate.

But for the population to be near-zero, at least to me, raises eyebrows.

Cheers,
D

[1] There are some who might cynically say they're being sheltered from the
hell that is life as a sysadmin, but let's set that aside for now. :-)
