I'd probably outsource it. We evaluated Circonus.com earlier this year. The downside to it was the per-metric cost (but it appears that they might have modified how that works since we last looked at it). We're evaluating DatadogHQ.com right now. So far we like it. Seems to be about half the price, per system, than circonus with no apparent per-metric limits.
