Good morning LOPSA,

I'm currently in the process of researching security camera recording software. Our current solution is antiquated and needs to be replaced. A Windows-based solution would be preferable as our door security system is currently hosted on the same machine which runs on Windows Server 2008. If there is a free/open source solution available that would be ideal We only have around 20 cameras and we don't need much beyond basic functionality.

The core functions that I'd like:

  * Motion detection so video is only recorded when there is movement
    (with sensitivity options)
  * Video record looping so it will constantly record over the tail
    end of itself

Thanks in advance.

It's not free, but we use NetGuard EVS. It provides all of those features plus a few more. It also has several heads up sorts of displays where you can preview all camers as once, then select a particular camera, etc. All of the cameras are IP based. Some are fixed, some are pan/rotate/tilt, depending upon application.
