I want to run my own server, or at least have organizational control of the
encryption keys.  So, when spideroak blue comes out, it might be
interesting...  And up till now I never heard of owncloud.  They look
interesting now.  Per your suggestion, I believe I will try them out.

I'm not in love with sparkleshare, because it's git-based.  The problem with
this is that it keeps multiple copies of everything in your directory, and
it works poorly with unmergeable data files, and it has to walk the tree
scanning for changes...  Periodically scanning local disk and periodically
polling the server to see if there are any new updates from the other side.
I would only be satisifed with a sync service that is live-monitoring the
filesystem usage, such as dropbox and sugarsync and box and all the others
do.
