I wish manufacturers got more involved in the linux kernel to add needed drivers for all their machines.
The beauty of the pc market, is that you can pick your hardware from one vendor, add parts from another vendor, and an OS from a third vendor, or a free (as in beer, freedom and whatever you want) OS, etc...
If I didn't mind to be locked in by the same vendor for the hardware and OS layer, and absolutely had to have a UNIX based OS, I'd just buy a Mac!
