Hi,

that's been a great thread to read :>

Could anyone describe the differences between buildbot and Jenkins on
a high level?

I had been thinking about Jenkins for automation of VM host->host
migrations, backup validation and such.
I ended up thinking of Jenkins since there's no really powerful
equivalent to the enterprise batch schedulers like UC4 or $universe.
But I didn't yet start testing it.

>From this thread it seems the buildbot fraction (I loved that posting,
really. Pure admin pr0n) and one of the Jenkins users have that much
of automation, and the other group is mostly concerned with
auto-validating their puppet configs. Right?

Also, from a planning point of view, I'd love to know if you allocate
a defined amount of time for the maintenance of your automation
system, or just do it adhoc with every thing that needs to be done.

Greetings,
Florian

the purpose of libvirt is to provide an abstraction layer hiding all
xen features added since 2006 until they were finally understood and
copied by the kvm devs.
