Peter,
I used the Asset Tracker plugin to Request Tracker for a while until our
place went to School Dude. I am not a fan of that software and it is a
giant waste when the Asset Tracker plugin for RT worked and was free.
Another free thing I used was called Asset Manager written by a guy who
worked for BC Tree Fruit company. I just checked the link and it is dead.
The company is still there but I guess he left or retired. I still use it
for my purchase orders. He gave it out without warranty and said if you use
it on the open internet you best keep it secure. I used it because I sit on
a private network and none of my servers point to the outside so I didn't
worry too much. It was written under the GNU GPL so it is free to
distribute. It is much easier to setup then RT but it is not as extensive.
I had to keep track of minimal equipment. If you are interested I can dig
up the code and send it to you.
