I use sleeves, and other items, from Waterfield Designs,
http://www.sfbags.com/

I have two sleeves for my current MacBook Pro Retina, one vertical with a
flap, strap, and accessory bag that can be used on it's own or inside
another bag. I also have a horizontal sleeve with no flap for use in a
messenger bag / briefcase / etc.

Then I have many other bags and backpacks (too many to mention, my Wife
would say too many to own) to hold the sleeve + MacBook and whatever else
is needed on a trip.

Here is a very long discussion of bags:
 http://forums.macrumors.com/showthread.php?t=1391592

Another good reference:

 http://thewirecutter.com/leaderboard/best-bags/

I will bring the Waterfield sleeves to Thursday's meeting in case anyone
wants to have a look. Note that these sleeves are model specific, so your
MBP Retina will not be rattling around inside a case designed for earlier
models.
