I just renewed my membership. A couple of comments:
* it's not easy to renew! You need to login, then find the one place where it says "your membership has expired. renew" in a fairly small font. Why not have a big item beside the "join" button that makes you log in and automatically takes you to the renewing page?
* I get yearly emails from organisations I am no longer member part of and charities I no longer support. I find once a year is fair, and don't consider it spam. Had I received one of those about LOPSA, I would have renewed earlier.
* How difficult would it be to send a "hey you should join!" email to people who post to one of the mailing lists for the first time that particular month and who aren't a current member? I think an email per month as the cost of not paying your dues to be able to post to the mailing lists is fair.
