I think there are 2 relatively consequential points that may be getting
glossed over in some of the discussion.

Whether lopsa needs an E.D. (debatable) is orthogonal to whether LOPSA can
afford one. Given the salary needs of a good E.D. (evidence posted earlier
by Adam et al.), this seems doubtful at the current time. There's a bit of
a catch-22 in that getting things done increases value, which leads to
money, which leads to being able to afford one.

The previous discussion of making LOPSA free makes an E.D. totally
untenable for the forseeable future, imho. Until that is resolved, it seems
moot to consider hiring one. I'm quite sure that the board is aware of this.

Certainly, there are things that an E.D. could help with. Are the finances
available? Current evidence suggests no, regardless of the fact that the
legal cash outlays are complete. Debating what an E.D. could or could not
do for the organization is getting a bit ahead of other important
decisions. I'm not saying that the debate shouldn't happen, but nobody
should expect any immediate action to come out of these discussions. The
current discussion is very much ahead of its practicality, in my opinion.
