*someone removed the (black?) ethernet cable from the lounge switch
to the switch near the classroom, possibly while attaching the cables
to the roof - please DO NOT remove infrastructure like that! There`s
enough work to do already, I expect whoever did that to reinstall it ASAP.

*if anyone has a spare 12V bell / buzzer I could use that for the doorbell.

*should information like this go on announce@ as well?

Internet Connection:

We`re still getting internet from the dish at Adelaide until VOI has the
time
to donate/install service at Sksp2. I had setup a 5.4ghz link between both
buildings to feed Sksp2 but that frequency can have issues - it`s a radar
band and the radios are required to shut down for 1-30mins in the "rare"
case
that they detect radar (didn`t use 2.4ghz due to likely interference or
5.8ghz
because VOI was using that at sksp1). Something along this radio path
was constantly triggering the radar detect (buildings reflecting the airport
radar? Police leaving theirs on as they drive around?) and shutting the
link off.
Tweaking it just made it a bit better or worse, so in the end I just
changed the
equipment to a 2.4ghz link, it`s slower (14mbit) but fixes the issues.

Card Access:

Thor, Adrian and I spent 13hrs combined (over the last 24hrs) to run 6
cables
through carved-out baseboards / metal doorframes / 100 years of dirt to the
front door (4x cat5 for card access / indoor cam / outdoor cam / spare, 2x
18-
guage pairs to power the strike even in cold weather and for the outside
camera
heater). This fixes the front door reliability issues; the door "beta" is
almost
finished, just need to make it pretty by putting the cables in channels and
painting those channels the right colours.

After that I`ll run a cable channel from the Sksp2 main door to the area
above
the bathrooms where the card access panel will be installed, carrying all
the
previously-mentioned cables and the cable for the sksp2 main door.

For the cameras - AW is ready to donate some spare security cameras to us,
but they don`t know how many that would be until the constructions is done
(weeks?). The company for whom I do part-time camera/security installs has
boxes of old cameras, I`ll arrange to get some of those tested and usable.

I do not yet have a timeframe é final plan to make the main door
manually-openable
(other than paying a locksmith $500+), may have time during Christmas break.

Let me know if anything else is needed.
