I don't think we should turn our 16GB DDR2 RAM, quad core "graphics/video-edit/games/powerful workstation" into a machine that hides behind an arcade cabinet and runs software that requires considerably less ummph. A lesser machine can do the job.
I hope at some point soon we can even get a substitute machine in place for lounge playback and set this powerful workstation free again on a cart that people feel free to take wherever in the space to work on whatever high powered personal stuff they want to do.
But, if the arcade cabinet aspect of the multi-machine/MAME etc project isn't going to happen or isn't going to happen for a long time, then I do think it would make sense to add this 1TB hard drive to the super workstation (which has Windows 7 on its main drive), and put all the multi-machine/MAME stuff on that drive and we would tell people that that's where they can find it and that they can plug in a USB game controller to enjoy it.
