You probably need to install lame_enc.dll in your slimserver bin directory. You need this for slimserver to be able to convert from raw (wav) to mp3 for streaming to your music player. If you want to get the complete feel for what a squeezebox is like you should try out softsqueeze--it's exactly like a squeezebox (and if you don't want to compromise the sound quality of your flacs sotsqueeze will allow streaming of the uncompressed wav without conversion to mp3).
