Not sure of your server platform and OS? Are you streaming to squeezebox or
slimp3?

If you have good network bandwidth, but less cpu, you could try streaming as wav and not using lame - (only for squeezebox). ----- Original Message ----- From: "G Kolstad" <[EMAIL PROTECTED]>

Subject: Re: [slim] AlienBBC 0.97 and BBC playout problem

Moving LAME.exe to the main slim directory and restarting the service
seems to have made the problem less severe. (Even though the web
interface said that LAME was already installed correctly). The buffer
doesn't always drain immediately and sometimes even fills up (albeit
briefly).

CPU usage is still high (almost 100% all the time), and although I can
play the stream for a bit sometimes without problem, any use of other
computer resources (slim web interface, surfing the web, significant
CPU use) results in a buffer drain, with skips and eventual garbling
of the playback. In my brief testing, even when I don't use any other
resources, the problem can reoccur.

Any other suggestions or do I just need a little more processing power
to use AlienBBC effectively with BBC streams?
