I leave mine on all of the time - it takes WAY too long to boot. My wife would never use it if she had to wait for it to boot each morning.
I have mine set up to blank the screen after a certain number of seconds of inactivity. When it is in the dock and playing music, the screen will remain on. When music is off and it is in the cradle, the screen will blank. I seem to recall I had to configure it to behave this way.
